Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

It seems to be the elusive R40. My German is non existent but
through the translator it does seem to mention that the complete
unit is not for sale, and what is for sale will not be sent outside
Germany.

Hi Larry
Well this is what he says, saving anyone else translating it.
Regards
Bryan
I offer a Tasc R30 V2.5 in original packaging. The offer includes the original operating instructions and the original power supply. The R30 are in very good condition and work flawlessly. As the only mistake, there are a few small, barely visible impressions at the front of the front (picture 2).
On request, I like to add the EEPROMs of the program versions 2.2, 2.23 and Gideon. I also like to attach a connection cable to the chessboard.
Not part of the offer is the board and the chess pieces.
Pictures are the subject of the article description!
If you have any questions, you can contact me.
Private sale: No guarantee, no return, no exchange !!!
If you do not agree, please refrain from buying!
No shipping outside of Germany.

A REAL R40 must have the cooling vents in the back of the unit like so:blaubaer wrote:Hi,
I think this is the first and only R30/R40 hybrid operator module with R30 hardware, isn't it?
Collector's item? Regards, Michael
PS: Obviously not for Steve's collection?!

this computer is probably operating at only 30 Mhz not 40
if it were running at 40 it would probably overheat without the vents
this is just a ...
Modified Computer Regards

It's meaningless to be an R40 you need 1024 KB RAM in addition to 40 MHz.
Useful only if you have an extra board. The other ROMs don't work anyway unless you have an SB30 version 1.
The Eaby picture indicates that the person selling can't use the other ROM's he is offering either since his Board shows Smartboard II which is the later SB30 that does not play King 2.2, King 2.23 or Gideon.

well as the inventor of the Mysticum and organizor of the various online tournaments here i would of course consider you a fine personblaubaer wrote:
With more than 130 chess computer, and almost all dedicated ones, I am a fine person too. Don't know where "top collector" starts, but I feel like one....
but you raise a good question
when i think of a "top" collection i do not consider the number of chess computers alone(width)
but also its depth
by depth i mean .....
rare models as well as new models
are all of the major manufacturers represented
are there auxiliary items and attachments ...such as modules printers, clocks
table top as well as portable
wood as well as plastic
original boxes,manuals and pieces
of course ..being a top collector does not automatically make you a fine person
in fact..i know a few that i would call...
Aholes Regards
