Nuremburg Toy Fair 2018
Are German friends over at the Schachcomputer.info forum have provided the first news from Nuremburg and it's about the new DGT chess computer.
The new innovative chess computer from DGT (Digital Game Technology) is really fun to play,
because the clever algorithms adapt to the playing strength of the player. The joy of the game is often clouded when it becomes clear that the chess computer is invincible - now even the clumsy mistakes with the strange moves in easy difficulty have an end.
So it would be "human" with the new DGT chess computer.
The attractive design, with round LED lights for displaying the moves
Adaptive degree of difficulty make the device unique, according to Leslie Hulskers, Sales & Marketing Manager at the Dutch company. The new DGT chess computer is therefore an ideal device for playing, long-time chess expert
The DGT's chess computer is characterised by its appeal smart design, round LED lights as a train indicator, E-paper display and the adaptive level of difficulty
Games section, including digital chess clocks and timers for games, electronic chess boards, chess computers or other chess accessories. DGT sees itself as the world leader in chess and game timers and sells its products in over 80 countries around the world the globe.

Apparently the newly announced chess computer is still in it's prototype stage but will be released sometime during 2018.
Size, price and other details are not yet available but I really like the idea of the circular move highlight on the squares. It reminds me a bit of a Russian prototype that the whole square lit up indicating the computers move. Unfortunately it was before Kickstart and the designers couldn't attract the investment they needed.

Hi Michael
Nice looking chess computer!
I would come over but my passport has actually ran out eighteen months ago but many thanks for asking.
In the good old days I couldn't wait for the Nuremburg edition of Computer Schach & Spiele to pop through my letter box crammed with pages of new chess computer models.
Anyway, Maximilian Hegner did tell me last week that Millennium would be announcing a new chess product at Nuremburg, I suppose we will have to wait and see as there hasn't been any announcement yet.
Have just sent you a email.
Regards
Bryan

I read about it, and it are highlighted rings in the fields themselves that light up to indicate the to- and from fields. Also the display seems to be of e-reader quality.IvenGO wrote:Im pretty sure there will be no LEDs in this plastic toy... as always...
"Modern" chess computer regards
I am curious to know what engine is in it!
