Fidelity Excellence

My question is, why are these things so cheap? It's a neat, reliable and
well built unit with acceptable playing strength. Great for travelling. Mine
was not the only one on ebay at the time. There were several others,
and they were also cheap. A few years back I was having a cleanout
and sold an Excellence. I regretted it and grabbed this one. Unfortunately
it's not the rare 4mhz version, otherwise it would really have been a
steal, and on Mike's wish list. I would have been able to use it as a
bargaining chip for Mike's EAG. I can only reason that sellers, when
considering how much to ask, go to ebay and see what others are asking.
I got to thinking about this. Maybe if I put a RISC2500 up on ebay for
$50 for several days we will see other risc2500's appear, also for $50
because that will seem the market valuation by gullible sellers. Then I
remove mine, citing "listing errors" and snap up the other risc's. A bit
below the belt, I hear you say.
...and I would agree with you...

I found the Fidelity Excellence unpleasant to use. The LEDs are huge and in particular I found the flashing LED on the e1 square very annoying. I used to place a small piece of cardboard over the flasing light which wasn't a very satisfactory solution. I sold my original Excellence years ago and just bought another one a couple of years back. IMO it's a collectors item but not very practical to use.

Cheers,Rob.

good point
of course a serious seller will go to Ebay and list an item for a price that similar items SOLD for..not what was ASKED for it
the worth of an item on Ebay.. and in general ..is not what a seller is asking for it...but what a buyer is willing to pay for it

All moody and recalcitrant

in this forum there are a lot of old people, everything bothers, including me. Excellence was a good machine for its time, this does not apply to the present times.

We are not old, pal, we are EXPERIENCED

I love ALL those machines just because they exist.
Some I like more than other for any particular reason, BUT all are appreciated a lot.
