Inherited my dad's Novag Super Expert 878.

Post by mikemike »

Hello all!

I remember fondly how my dad used to play this thing every night for years, and years. He died recently, and I grabbed this from his possessions. I'm thinking about selling it, but I want to make sure it works first, and even then - I may just end up keeping it.

It seems to start up, but I don't know how to get it to work. Is there a user manual online for these? All I see in the LCD corner after it starts is "H1" with the light blinking on the square.

Thank you all!

Hi, sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. For a manual printout
try:

all the best to you...

PS Also, to check it works, you have to set up suitable pieces, ie, pieces
with magnets in the base of them, then turn it on and simply play some
moves into the game. If you can't play chess, then just learn the basics,
it's simple enough. To realise it's true value on the market it's way better
if you can confirm it works fine. Of course it helps if it is all complete.

Thank you so much. I'll give this a go and let everyone know how it works. :D

Hi Mike,

my condolences to you and your family.

If the machine working fine consider keeping it. It will remind you of your dad and maybe one day you can pass it on to your own children.

All the best

Murat
