is it an Elite Avant garde V11 ?
Hello,
i have seen this image in internet ... The legend said it is a Fidelity Elite Avant Garde V11:
But i am not sure , because as you can see , the button are in front of the player and not at the side of the machine.
Somebody can tell me what is this machine ? Any idea ?
Best Regards

Yes.. that looks like the modified Avant Garde its a 68060 with 72 MHz. The program itself my feeling is that it is a chess version around Sargon 3. Sargon 5 came out in 1991 so for sure its not that. Sargon 4 is bad so not likely.scandien wrote:Hello,

Sargon 3 on Atari ST can play at 68060 32 Mhz so its getting close to the V11.
ps...the plaque on the front stating 72 MHz is not original it is something that someone added to the Avant Garde. In fact the V11 is really not original and modified same as V10. Last original is the V9 which is a Motorola 68030 - 32 MHz.
Best regards
Nick

Are you sure the V10 is not original and the V9 is the last of the originals?spacious_mind wrote: In fact the V11 is really not original and modified same as V10. Last original is the V9 which is a Motorola 68030 - 32 MHz.

I always thought the V10 was the last of the originals.

No I am pretty sure that Herr Bucke in Switzerland who originally modified them prior to Steve in UK did both V10 and V11. Steve B can confirm that since he collects only originals and V9 would be I think the end of his collection.Larry wrote:Are you sure the V10 is not original and the V9 is the last of the originals?spacious_mind wrote: In fact the V11 is really not original and modified same as V10. As a result.... hang on to your original Avant Garde computers... they will become scarce and for your great great grand kids the real McCoy value heirloom that only an Original can bring. If you must sell then get rid of the V11 or V10 after you have played it/them to death
Best regards

Hi Guys
Last EAG Original was the V10
Fidelity had a suggested Retail asking price of $11,000 for it
but i remember i could have gotten one for about 1/2 that price when it was released for sale
the EAG 11 is ..as Nick says.. not original and is a modified computer
(not released by Fidelity)
the computer in the photo is a modification of a modification
what is commonly known as a Mutant computer
Genetically Modified Regards

Thanks Steve, that makes the V10 tricky on originals since I know for sure Herr Bucke offered both V10 and V11 modifications.Steve B wrote:Hi Guys

i have also heard the Bucke upgraded EAG's to the V10spacious_mind wrote:Well if I had them I would give them to you after I played them and I wouldn't be that greedy
If you do find a V10 just make sure it has a V10 box and original manual.... otherwise spending that 5K might be unfortunate

you might have noticed in my "offer to buy" thread ..that soon after i posted that offer ...Bauermiester made an amazing coincidental post in the german forum ..offering his V10 for 5500 Euro+post
(i think it was a counter offer but i cant say for certain)
he did emphasize that it was an ORIGINAL V10
One must always be vigilant Regards

Yes I guess its possible that he might have had one. In my mind only the original would be worth it (if 100% confirmed that it is) since if you must have a modified, the V11 would make more sense and I do have one of Herr Bucke's V11. The V11 is obviously faster and stronger and I would not see the point of a modified V10 myself.Steve B wrote:

Not that I am aware of. My AG's are all with buttons in between displays on the right. The Elite have buttons in the front. As Steve said its a modified modified.scandien wrote:is it normal that the command key are in fornt of the player and not between the two display ?
i saw other Elite Avant Garde image and i don't see this configuration ? The chess board seems different than normal too ... am i wrong ?
best regards
Nicolas
ps... the bottom left switch tells me its UK and it might be a switch to change program as UK did for modified Premiers or to switch back and forth from original speed to V11 speed. (just guessing)
So it could also be a UK modified Premier V11.

one sure fire way to determine if its original would be the serial/model label which would show a model number of 6117-10
just like an original V9 shows a label with 6117-9 or the V5 with a label of 6114-5
like this:
http://www.schachcomputer.at/elite10.htm
i doubt herr Bucke could replicate those when he modified the EAG's
Replicant Regards

Right the label is a must firmly stuck on the back of the computer.Steve B wrote:Agreedspacious_mind wrote:
