Amiga emulation

Post by Fernando »

I know that in Amiga some chess programs runs faster and with much better appearance than in a Dos box, but I have not idea about how to do it. What emulator download, then how to get the games, etc. If someone could teach me step by step, i would be very grateful.

Hi Fernando,

It is not so easy with Amiga because the Kickstart ROM's are not a free release by Amiga. You can purchase licensed releases of Amiga ROMs from Amiga Forever.

With WinUAE if I remember you can download the emulator but the ROM's are not provided. With FS-UAE I believe you get a software ROM but I can't remember if it only lets you play up to Amiga 500 which is 68000 7.16 MHz speed with the Software ROM that is provided.

Here are a couple of pages where you can read more about it:

https://fs-uae.net/docs/kickstarts

and here:

http://www.lemonamiga.com/help/kickstar ... om-3-1.php

In order to play at the speed that I am playing at you need a 4000 ROM

Using the Amiga Emulators is not quite as easy as the DOS emulator and obviously helps if you know Amiga's.

Best regards
Nick
