Both programs had their opportunities in this game. However in the above position Chess Player 2150 missed the best opportunity for a win. DOSBox CP2150 should have played 67. Kg3! followed by Kh4! and likely would have won this game.

ROUND 11 RESULTS

TABLE AFTER 11 ROUNDS

Image

With one round to go it is now definite that Amiga 68060 Chess Player 2150 has won Division 4. With Amiga Chess Champion 2175 lying in second place, it seem very possible that the Amiga programs could finish 1st and 2nd!

Saitek Corona in 10th place after 11 Rounds is the highest ranking dedicated chess computer!

After reviewing the above table, I decided that that there is a distinct possibility that a lot of computers could be ending with the same amount of points around the cutoff point of 10 promotion spots. Which was unsatisfactory for me. Therefore if this became the case, then I would cutoff the promotion spots at less than 10 promotion spots where every contestant with those points gets promoted. Therefore it seems from the above table that 7 points needs to be achieved for promotion.

Therefore Saitek Corona and Fidelity Mach III Master still stand a chance. All other dedicated have missed out.

One Round to go!

Amiga Chess Player 2150 missed a Mate in 8 in the above position. Which I think shows that its search depth at 30 seconds per move does not reach 8. Chris Whittington's programs are slow searchers and I think this is a good example of this. The winning move in the above position is 53. h6+

I thought Krypton Challenge had the game in the bag in this position had it played 41. ... Rde6! DB Nova Chess 1.12 would have had to lose its Queen to stop it being mated! That was a big and costly miss!!

After making a series of mistakes in the endgame Krypton Challenge now with the move 69. ... Rxh2? makes his final mistake that immediately loses.

Spacious-Mind Swiss Chess Computer League - Division 4 Champion

COMMODORE AMIGA 68060 CHESS PLAYER 2150

Image

Yep, Amiga Chess Player 2150 ended up a convincing Division 4 Champion winning 8 games and only drawing 4 games.

CONTESTANTS PROMOTED TO DIVISION 3

1- Amiga 68060 Chess Player 2150
2- Amiga 68060 Chess Champion 2175
3- DOSBox YChess 1.09
4- DOSBox Grandmaster
5- DOSBox Chess Friend
6- Atari 68060-32 MHz Sargon 3
7- DOSBox Chessmaster 2000
8- DOSBox Siberian 2.15

It is amazing that DOSBox Chessmaster 2000 finished in a promotion spot!! Who would have thought that?

Here is the Final Division 4 Table:

Image

I added in the last column the winning percentage for each contestant. As you can see Amiga 68060 Chess Player 2150 finished with an impressive 83.3%

Here is another look of a final table that also shows who played who in each of the rounds:

Image

Finally here is another table this time out of Chessbase where I keep my games database.

Image

This table is interesting as it provides you with a different overview of who played who in this 12 Round Swiss Tournament.

Well, that is it folks. I now have to figure out who the 30 Division 3 contestants will be. For sure I am going to have to put some stronger dedicated computers into Division 3!!

Best regards
Nick
