1) You got the display on the other one fixed as well? :)
2) You swap ROMs after every move?
3) By using a Novag Printer or distributor box?

Best regards

We should make emulations of all those defective machines.

A savant emulation. Or savant II emulation.
A mark V and mark VI emulation.

Emulations do not break.

Savant fared quite well against the contemporary computers released in the early 1980's.it even drew against me(released in the mid 1950's)
i thought it time it faced a computer released during the modern era
as late as 2008..the Novag 2Robot...(Wiki Active Rating-1466)

The Robot needed some serious piece calibration as it was placing pieces on my lap(felt quite funky actually)..
after following the calibration routine for short and long calibration it was all set to go ...

In The Game..
both computers were out of book at move 7
2Robot goes into for a dubious attack at move 12 with its Q side pieces still undeveloped
after a series of exchanges it comes out down the exchange and a p
to add insult to injury ..it has a paralyzed position unable to develop its QB and QR..
Savant II then wipes the Robot off the board

Seemed only right to give the 2Robot a chance to try to redeem itself with the White pieces

In The Game..
Savant2 is out of book on move 3...2Robot at move 4
massive wholesale piece exchanges early on leave the Savant2 up a P and also results in a R+ multiple P endgame as early as move 24!
2Robot manages to win back the P and has a decent chance to win the game with the move h5 as early as move 44 but instead chooses to shuffle its R and K to and fro
i adjudicated the game a draw at move 61

i have seen enough
i called it a draw here
White would probably win if it played h5 but it refuses to do so for the past 20 or so moves choosing instead to shuffle its R or K

Lets see how the Savant I fares against the 2Robot
(the Savant II beat it 1.5-.5 in its mini-match)

In The Game..
2Robot is out of book at move 8 ,Savant at move 9..
Savant comes out swinging with a fierce but dubious king side attack at move 10
2R gets lost in the complications and when the smoke clears its down a B for 2p's
Savant wins back the 2p's leaving it up a B but at the expense of allowing the Robot a dangerously advanced passed p sitting on its 3rd rank
Savant ignores the p threat and goes on a p snatching expedition
Robot manages to promote the P resulting in a drawn R Vs B+2P endgame
a nice comeback for the 2Robot

In The Second Game..
Another Sicilian with Both computers out of book at move 3!??
Savant wins a pawn early on and holds on to it well into the endgame
it looks poised to win the game when on move 63 it finds one of the only ways to lose the game blundering horribly
2R (with the win in the bag) returns the favor blundering even more horribly 5 moves later and the game peters out into a draw
match is tied 1-1

Savant flashes the imminent mate box here

Savant I defeats the 2Robot by the same score as the Savant II
1.5-.5
Thats 12 games posted against a variety of opponents with the Savants not losing a single game (not counting the Savant Vs.Savant II game)

With all of the recent discussion on the CXG Advanced Star ..I was curious to see how the undefeated(so far) Savant would do against it
Selective Search shows a rating for the AS of 1589 which is somewhat stiffer competition then the Savant has faced so far
to make matters worse..the AS ponders while the SII does not
i snapped the red/orange eprom back into the Savant transforming it into a Savant II

In The Game
Both computers were out of book on move 3
the game seems headed for a draw when on move 40 the SII ruins the game and blunders in a R+P endgame.. bringing the game to an abrupt halt
