lichess.org: 90/30 Tournament #1, round 1, board 5

Post by Hasimir »

My return to playing online has led me to Lichess, which is a brilliant little site and one which is free to boot. As with many such sites it is the bullet and blitz games which appear to receive the most attention. That said, there are enough people there who prefer a slower pace and some of us have formed the first tournament on that site being run to 90/30 time rules. My first round was on Thursday and though I was hopeful and did a little studying of my opponent, with the rating gap I expected to lose.

As the game progressed, however, it became quite intense and I achieved a thing I had not expected at all, I won! :)

Here's the notation with just a couple of notes from me regarding the endgame (yes, I use the same username there as here):

According to that I was the only one to make a blunder and yet I still succeeded in the end. That analysis isn't really that clear as to how significant the move was and what difference it might have made. Obviously this required a closer look. So for most of the last twenty-four hours my system has been busily working at analysing this game, first using Deep HIARCS 14 WCSC and then using Stockfish 5 64 (configured with multithreading to use all CPU cores). I've added extra PGN headers with the analysis configuration details (e.g. setting it to an average of 300 seconds per move, the hardware available, etc.).

I ran Deep HIARCS 14 WCSC first and this was the result:
