The Rev II registers the first win for black in the match and in doing so ..ties up the match with one final game to go!

play resumed from the Adjourned position with the Mysticum sacking its H Pawn..Mysticum then followed this up with an Exchange Sacrifice
going full bore for a K side attack
at this point the Rev II was up a R Vs.2P's!
when the fog of battle cleared it was apparent Rev ll had repelled the attack and was now up a B for 2 P's .Bolstered by its edge in material ..Rev II went on the counter attack in Earnest
Mysticum..with its forces now greatly weakened was unable to withstand the Rev ll Juggernaut
facing an inevitable mate..Mysticum Resigned

Going back to the 9th game i had to say that it was very exciting it was the first sacrifice in the whole match. That day was my birthday so i enjoyed the game but at the end the sacrifice did not work out Rev II played a great defense and won.

Here the position after the sacrifice of Mysticum 39. Rxb6

[fen]2b5/p3rpk1/1R1r3p/3Bp1p1/2p1P3/2PPN1Pq/5P2/Q3R1K1 w - - 0 1 [/fen]

Before the sacrifice the pos eval was -0.03 and after the sacrifice it was -0.33 so still not so bad for white but after that move the position evaluation was getting worse and worse for white.

Match of the Epoch regards
Ricardo

Rev II wins the 10th game and the Match
Trailing after 7 games 3-4.. it takes 2.5 out of the last 3 to win the match with the smallest possible score of 5.5-4.5

Rev II was out of book on move 18
following the pattern in the beginning of the match
both sides swapped pieces early on and the game reached an early endgame with one side up a P
the game looked to be heading for a certain draw when the
Rev ll up R+2P Vs. R+P managed to reach a Lucena type position to bring home the win and the match

I Thank Ricardo for accepting my challenge and i once again acknowledge his high level of sportsmanship when he could have easily claimed a win in the 9th game (and the match)due to my operating error ..but choose to replay it

It was a great final game of this match with a Grunfeld defense. Mysticum also came out of book at move 18.

This was a close match. Maybe before the end of 2014 a rematch with Mysticum loaded with a bit stronger engine?

Better position after 55..Re7

[fen]8/p3r3/6k1/R7/P4P2/5K2/8/8 w - - 0 56[/fen]

On A Lighter Note...

For those trying to decide which DGT compatible piece set to buy for the
Revelation ll..Consider this...

In the match the results of each piece set were as follows:
Timeless-1 Loss
Classic -1 Draw
BCE-2 Draws
Ebony -1 Win(white)-1 Loss
Royal- 1Win(white)-1 Draw
Venus-1 Win(black)-1 Draw

Clearly the only two reasonable choices are ..

Royal and Venus Regards
