My 1st lucky win versus HIARCS 13.31 Iphone4

Post by Pichy »

[youtube]Here is my first lucky game against HIARCS 13.31 . The engine played game at 10 sec per move and I was taking as long as 5 minutes and 8 minutes per move. My biggest surprise was that HIARCS let me penetrate into its territory, since I have played games versus various computer like Novag Citrine with a USCF rating of 2330 Approximately and have lost terribly

This game I tried to play a close position, but then I decided to open the position when I saw a good chance of winning material, I did not see that HIARCS had a perpetual check to force the draw at the end

PS: An important secret that nobody knows is that I have been playing 1.h3 against different computers for more than 18 years. I know most of the responses against 1.h3 ?! which is known as Clemenz opening or Russian Opening. Anyway these are the program that I statrted playing this 1.h3 opening against MChess Marty Hirsch, at least 30 times, versus Chessmaster different version at least 80 times, Chess Tiger at least 30 times, Shredder at least 25 times, Crafty on the ICC more than 5 times about 10 years ago, Novag Centrine, and Mephisto / Saitek Master Chess Computer more than 80 games combines (both of these tabletop chess computer are rated between 2350 and 2400 by the USCF). I consider myself an IM when playing white with 1.h3

I knew that I should have not played any other opening than 1.h3 since it is the only opening that I have extensive games versus computers, of well HIARCS show me who is boss

Are you sure you did not have limit strength switched on for the earlier games? As I notice the ELO for Hiarcs in the last game you posted is 200 elo higher.

Yes for the previous game I limited the playing strength to 2650 which I still believe that it is 300 rating points above the actual human strength since I am only 2200 or was 18 years ago. HIARCS13.31 has a feature that you can select or adjust the playing level which I did to 2650 (Human strength close to 2350 if you subtract 300)

Note: Settable Elo levels and fully adjustable playing levels are not realistic strengths since this is based on computer versus computer matches and not computer versus humans matches). I also switched the permanent brain off. Reason why I was playing versus HIARCS 13.31 with the permanent brain off was because I did not wanted the engine to think or calculate positions when I was thinking for 5 to 8 minutes, in other words, the engine thinks during its opponent's clock time (just as a human player does). I was preventing HIARCS to store evaluations in anticipation of my move.

PS: This is why I only allowed HIARCS 13.31 10 seconds per move while I was taking as long as 8 to 10 minutes per move, I also adjusted the strength to 2650 for the first games, not the one that I lost

This is the best game that I played versus HIARCS 13.31 so far with permanent Brain on, game at 10 seconds per move for HIARCS, but as usual I was taking 10 minutes to 15 minutes per moves. What I like about this particular game is the majesty way in which HIARCS slowly outplayed me in the end. I was playing with a bishop and 4 pawns versus Hiarcs with a Rook and three pawns not an easy win for black, but HIARCS little by little outperformed me. Noticed how the rating of HIARCS increased when I selected Permanent Brain On
