This is a strange game, the emulated version of the mephisto lyon 68020 gave a draw by three move repetition with out knowing it in a complete winning ending game. Master chess did came up with the message of 3 move repetion when the lyon did its move. Why was this? is it a problem with the emulated version?. Sadly i do not have the Lyon dedicated chess machine to test this. Any thoughts?. The game was played at 30 seconds per move average time control.

Personally i never trusted these PC emulations
god only knows what they did to the program to get it to run on the PC
now the Revelation emulations of the Lang programs are of course an exception to the above statement as they are ...
Picture Perfect Regards

The problem is still present in later versions through Genius 3 up to current Genius 7. Still plays the same sequence of moves ending in 61..Be7 even on the faster hardware so it would seem to be within the engine as opposed to the conversion. Blew the dust off my London 030 and that plays 61..Be7 too. Probably the same engine as Genius 3.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the test but i believe when you wrote 61..Be7 you meant 61..Ke7 right?

Steve,

Have you test the emulation of the polgar engine on Ruuds machine? i believe it is faster than the dedicated one.

Regards
Ricardo

Hi Ricardo
i tested all the emulations when i first purchased them
all of the emulations on Ruuds machines are faster then their dedicated counterparts

Hi Steve,

The idea of the emulation is not to play faster but to play at the same speed and to play just like the real dedicated machine.

identical twins regards
Ricardo
