Well Steve I think he is trying. On the first link the original display module broke and he explains how he made the board workable again by using the display and touchpad of another computer. Looks me messy but I guess he got the President working again :D

On the second one well I guess its just a matter of taste.

All the best

I would say, the touchpad is even selfmade!

I know the seller; he seems to be an experienced technician. The bad news is, that he is also tuning some computers!

I once bought an Exclusive board from him, which he had equipped with 4 LEDs per square (like a Renaissance board); and it had a beautiful, special wood grain surface; similar to a Mirage Marble (not made by himself))

not all his creations are ugly! :D
On the second one well I guess its just a matter of taste.
this is ugly!

1. he seems to know how to upgrade the old ESB boards into the new modular standard. this looks really nice.

what do you have against those "upgrades " ?

i think the guy is doing a nice job.

2. i consider to buy such a thing. the only problem i see: i don't like wood.

the problem i have is as a collector..not as a player
he is modifying these computers and i have a problem with that
he is taking a beautiful machine and changing it..making them uncollectible
perhaps if they are broken then he is fixing them..but perhaps they are not broken..i dont know

if i am collecting Picasso paintings i do not want someone to draw a mustache on the Mona Lisa

if somebody wants a modular board, he can buy a Modular or Exclusive!

Would you also say: "Nice!", if somebody took a DS19 or DS21, put spoilers on it and paint it a'la "The Fast and the Furious"?

If you are really a Citroen-fan, your answer should be: "No!"

he is taking a beautiful machine and changing it..making them uncollectible
and ? the machines collected by the collectors are also unreachable to
the player-people, did you ever consider about this ?
those few "collectors" have so many machines, they could make 300 people happy.
but they don't do it. the machines are somewhere in a big room. in their original box. nobody uses them.
until the day the collector dies. and the machines get used again.

there is always 2 sides of a medal.
the machines he modifies might be uncollectible to the collectors. but they are more attractive to the players :-)

the big boards are unique. but you can only put weak machines into it.
with the modification you can now put strong modules into it.
