You might see it back up on ebay shortly as the new owner
seeks to pick up a quick $200 profit.

PS Was the buyer anyone here?

$165 complete and working fine?... no bargain?...
Are we suffering from chess computer deflation? I seem to remember
a few years back these things fetching $300-$400. Of course it depends
on the condition, completeness etc. Someone on the German forum
remarked about falling chess comp prices, they thought maybe the younger
generation do not have the same interest.
One annoying thing about the CC1 is you can't take the back off and
clean up any oxidation, or melt old solder joints. That's why a lot of them
have dim display segments, or need repeated pressing of squares. The
dumbkofts nailed the back on rather than screwed it on.

I thought it might be the same one as last week. It's advertised as a '7'
level, in fact it's the elusive CC1. Once again, the seller will not even accept
questions from aliens like myself.

Really good price,
i think the prices are not extremly high in the future because the CC1 is perhaps not so rare as we think. I've counted in recent years been about 40 - is not really rare for me, but still remains the CC1 a collector's item rather particular interior décor and the "first" chess computer!

I'm sure the above is true, but also there is the general truism that what collectors view as collectible or the parameters they use for collecting can change. In the case of the CC1, in addition to the perception that there are more out there than people thought, there may also be the fact that collectors are becoming more discriminating and prefer boards that can actually be played (given the fact that even if the CC1 unit is working, it is virtually unplayable except by a rank beginner!).
