the problem is that the dedicated companies are either bancrott or sold or have no money anymore.

this is the reason the sell trash.

fidelity bancrott.
excalibur selling not so strong machines.
H+G bought by saitek.
saitek sold.
novag down.

the future looks no good. the only guy who is alive is phoenix chess
with his high end machines on palm level.

A bit OT

Post by IngoB »

Hi all

I am only supprised that the dedicated guys have to "spam" even a new forum with their "old school trash". For me and many (most) others this time is dead and gone!

It is ok to have a retro hobby (I have one by myself) but is'nt there a "dedicated forum" for them somewhere?

Ok, my first post and I start a flame war!

Bye

Hi,

The best solution would be the resurrection or revelation of Ruud Martin with a Hiarcs engine. :!:

I am myself surprised to see that some "engine" have to "spam" even a new forum with their flaming trash. For me and many (most) others this behavior is just inacceptable and such narrow minded people shoud be gone.

As you don't seem able to find the correct posts by yourself, here is a quote from Mark's welcome message
am hoping we are going to have some interesting discussions on this
new forum about Hiarcs, computer chess, dedicated chess computers, ...
and many other subjects
Go back to Chess Thinkers Forum or rec.games.Chess please

i guess ingo is bored because stefan has no stronger shredder version :-)

i would not take his posting so important alain.
it was for sure meant as a troll.

yesterday i met 2 friends of mine. i brought with me 2x24 bottles of
KROMBACHER
Image

we came to the agreement that the good old days of red fidelity LED excel display and mark leflers NOW and the mephisto II case and and and
were the best times we had.

we talked the whole night about computerchess and the "development" .

Uli had still a zirkon, udo had his milano with him, and there was a diamond too.

i put out my mobile, my 2 palms and showed them hiarcs, tiger, genius,
openchess, naum, etc.

but the screens of the palms were so small we had problems to watch :-)

the big old fidelity displays were much easier to watch.
even from 5 meters distance !

It seems you know it better than I do!

That is a good advice! After some years i do not take ANY posting in a forum as important!

Not at all, it is my honest belief about "dedicated" chess computers. I really think that it might be best for them to concentrate their posts in one forum to keep their comunity together. E.g. I like to tinker on some very old East German motorcycles - do I spam the general motorcycles forums which are around there? Of course not, the other members there would just be bored.

Have a nice week

without dedicated chess computer, without H+G, Fidelity, Novag or Saitek,
without nitsche+henne, spracklen, levy, ed schroeder, frans morsch, ...

we would have NO computerchess software for PCs.

dedicated chess computers were and still are the roots of computerchess.
so this is ON topic forever IMO.

welcome to the board Ingo
Uniacke himself is an avid collector and has invited the collectors to post here and indeed has already contributed to the threads on it

you have made your opinion known which is in disagreement with both Sponsors of the board(Hallsworth and Mark)

perhaps you can sponsor your own site and i can guarantee you now that we will not post on it

Have A Nice Day Regards

I doubt that I have to have their opinion to post here.

Thx, if I ever will I would appreciate that.

It seems I had to learn that these "dedicated" guy are at least as intolerant and without any sense of humor as I am!
