Hi Steve,

and this wooden case?
http://www.elpeon.com/index.php?id_des_ ... d=mephisto
Did Mephisto wooden cases build?

I must ask - you never know?!

I always ask myself how to use correct the black leather belt?!
I found till today not the correct position where to fix the belt on the board?

Mephisto Cases Regards

Maybe they did not build them, but they sold them for their Exclusive boards.

I am not sure, maybe it was intended to put the end of the belt onto the knob on the drawer (the drawer has to be on the right side of the case) to fix it a little bit.

But i normally put the belt under the board, so that i can pull the end of the belt to lift the board out of the case...

best regards,
Robert

Hi Robert,

you read my words overcorrect, Sir!
Yes of course perhaps they do not build, but i mean it is original or selfmade! :D I do not saw any writings like "Mephisto" on the wooden case...

IIRC it is written on the case below the handle (on the photo it is just covered by the handle  )

The used 'font' is looking quite different from the common 'Mephisto', so when i first saw it, i also was unsure, if it was original or not.

But it is...

I purchased a new Mephisto II in 1981/82 (boy that makes me feel old :? ) and it did not come with anything like that. I don't know if H&G packaged the product differently in Germany, but I have never seen this.

Old Aged regards
Best wishes,
Mark

Trying to top your ancient experiences, I remember visiting Selfridges in Oxford Street to see the new Chess Challenger, must of been 1977/78 as I went up on a "Red Bus Rover" now does anyone remember what that is?

Bowing to my elders regards
Best wishes,
Mark
