|
|
On this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150353324772&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching
a prospective buyer asked what version it is, and got his answer. I never
knew there were two versions to this machine. I checked mine, and mine is
the opposite version to the one on sale.
This is a long shot, but does anyone here know what the differences are
between the versions? I understand it would be something quite minor, but
which version came first?
curious regards
Larry
PS The versions are F806 and DB53... I have the latter. You tell by pressing
'Options', then 'New Game'. _________________ Growth is the problem, not the solution. |

the difference was minor
IIRC..the first production run of the Excel Mach III's had a slight problem with its mate search function ..i believe this bug only appeared on the mate search levels and not in normal play
i seem to also recall this bug did not appear in the Designer Mach III or the EAG v2(all with the same program)
i have no clue which version number came first
here is a Wiki Entry(German) about the different version numbers but i have no clue what it says
trying to translate it using an online translator results in an indecipherable gibberish...
Squinting Regards

Hi Larry,
this is very interesting because I own two Mach III which do not look exactly the same but I had never been able to read anything about different versions of the Mach III.
One has silver letters and the other has gold ones :
And I have never found any playing difference between them
I'll try the version test tonight and post the results here.
Best regards,

both are DB53 units... may be the "silver" one which looks older has been upgraded as mentioned in the German citations from Steve ?

I think you will find the opposite. The mint
one in the auction ending soon is an earlier F806, and is gold. Mine is a
later, silver one. I was bidding on the current one, but would have to
mortgage my house
The rare Excel Mach4 is red, so I believe. There may not be a single example
of the Mach4 in Australia, as we virtually had just the one distributor back
then and he has never seen one.

you are probably right, I based my impression of the relative condition of both machines and on the fact that I bought the Golden one in France where the upgrade seemed more unlikely but this was just an impression.
