I haven't checked the Rybka Forum lately to see what's going on with Rybka (or even if they're concerned with this tournament, since it's obviously not anything official if Zappa is in it), but this seems quite interesting.
I was told it (Zappa) is running on a Intel Xeon 8x 3.6 GHz

Yes, thank you; I made my first visit and just saw that, too. Haha, Rybka is running on a CoreDuo. :-) Ironically, the rumor is that Zappa is running Jeroen's Aquarium book, while Rybka is...?!? :-D

It was certainly not using the Aquarium book today. I chatted a bit with Timo the operator this morning, he operated Cluster Toga in China. He managed to erase his main book yesterday, by accident, and was using a different one today.

I guess in that case, it probably wasn't the Rybka 3 book in the first place, or else it would have been easy to reload.

Indeed, an "official" tournament if there is such a thing probably would not have allowed Grapefruit, Cyclone and Stockfish in the same tournament as Fruit and Glaurung. Doesn't make it any less interesting or worthwhile though. And just for a change it seems Rybka is the hardware underdog, which spices things up a little too.

What are the current standings ?

the big difference in hardware may make this tournament fun but the games and results can not be taken seriously. core duo versus 8 cores, how much elo is that? probably at least pawn odds.

But most seem happy when Rybka plays on 52 cores!?
