MM 3000 and MM 4500
Hi,
I thought that MM3000= Mephisto II and MM 4500 = Mephisto III but Schachcomputer.info's wiki says MM I = Mephisto III...
So what are exactly the MM 3000 and MM 4500 modules ?
At least I can win against my Exclusive (I received a MM 4500 today) regards,
Alain

Re: MM 3000 and MM 4500
I have an MM3000 (which is what it says just above the serial number on the module). I assumed it was a Modular Mephisto III equivalent.Steve B wrote:these MMxxxx numbers are confusing AlainAlain wrote:Hi,

thanks for your answers...
I bought this MM 4500 module after having hesitated some time ago to buy this MM 3000 where I had read the correspondance with the old III program (and I thought it would be cool to have the Mephisto III in the Exclusive board).
And as I did not check the MM 3000 auction before buying the MM 4500, I had in mind MM4500=III and MM3000=I or II, but yesterday I checked the MM 3000 auction and I saw that the description was the same. When you add the MMI=III from the Wiki, it is really confusing.
Need to check the Computer Schach und Spiece DVD regards,
Alain

hi Alain
i think they are both the same EXACT modules
both are the Mephisto MMI which is the same as the Mephisto III in Brikett
i think these MMXXXX numbers are meaningless

well as Alain will have both a MM3000 and a MM4500 he can do extensive tests to tell us if there is really any differenceRobert Weck wrote:should be easy to find out: Mephisto III is known for searching a very low number of nodes/sec! Hi Robert,
when I enter "Info", the display only shows the move being evaluated...
cannot even reach 2-3 nps myself regards,
Alain
yes... but I don't know how to display the npsRobert Weck wrote:should be easy to find out: Mephisto III is known for searching a very low number of nodes/sec! (2-3 in the starting position)

Alain
no, I did not bid on the MM 3000... but I changed my mind for the MM 4500 and therefore I only have this one.Steve B wrote:well as Alain will have both a MM3000 and a MM4500 he can do extensive tests to tell us if there is really any difference

try INFO
C3
then the ----> ARROW KEY on the bottom right of the module
press the arrow key several times to see..
depth search and then cumulative node count
it will look almost like the clock ticking off seconds but it will be the node count cumulative..not per second
From Memory Regards
Steve

IMO the number 3000 or 4500 refers to the SIZE of the board.
either modular kind of plastic (3000) or exclusive size wood (4500).
it has nothing to do with the ENGINE that is used, its simply the size in cm as a number.
