Webcam Chess
Have you guys seen this? This dude used a webcam to automatically read the moves he is making on his dedicated unit, and transfer the move to DOSBox. Super cool!

my feeling is the folowing:

hello
as i said on the review this idea is interesting. But my feeling is that the webcam is really difficult to set up. it must be placed at a specific distance to be able to see all the chess board, directly over the chessboard (it does not working form the side, and must be centered) , and with no fading shadows on the chess board, and so on ....
fulfill all those conditions and the software will work (certainly), but i was never able to be compliant with all of them. May be you can be more efficient !

Re: Webcam Chess
Looks cool. Looks like it also inputs moves to the DOSbox as well? So in theory this should be able to automate a game between two DOS programs?TracySMiller wrote:Have you guys seen this? Hi all,
I have recently bought the program and use it on my Linux Mint laptop. Having issues with the moves registering consistently as others have pointed out. I will be upgrading my webcam to a HD model soon, but I suspect the challenge will be to control room shadows even when I obtain a proper desk-mounted stand for it.
