Hi Fernando,

Thanks for taking a look. CM5500 is readily available but hard to set up for sharing or at least it used to be with Windows 7 and 8 because it is Windows 95 program. I have not tried it with Windows 10 maybe it now works again/

VChess that is readily available is version 1.0 for Windows 3.11. Do you know what version you have there?

I have power chess on cd somewhere Kittingers program. Same problem it was WIN95 and therefore could never play it again with Windows 7 and 8. Might try and see where I put it and see if I can install it under Windows 10.

Once upon a time, I had the two of them, original Power Chess and Power Chess 98, but I got so pissed off with its many bugs that I threw both to the bin basket.
Now I miss them just as a collector...

I think you can create windows 95 on DOSbox but then to add software to it is what makes it still not very good today.

Wish someone would learn to configure like Win 3.11 DosBox emulator.

Hi
There are a lot of emulators to run Windows 95.I have stable Windows 95 in DOSBox and Virtual PC.
But only I have this OS in Russian.
I uploaded Chessmaster 3000,4000,5000;Fritz 4 GUI(engines Fritz 1.20,3.10,4.01),Hiarcs 7 GUI(engines Hiarcs 4,6,7),Chessica 1.1,Mephisto Genius 2,Virtual Chess 1.03.
I could not run Junior 4 CB and not find Hiarcs 5.
I'm running programs Chessmaster 5500 and 6000 in OS Windows 98 Virtual PC.
I did not like Power Chess 98.Do not remember, started or not, but I deleted it.

Hi Volodymyr,

You have a lot of patience. When I read up on it, I read that you had to mount and install the disks for Win 95 first into DOSBox and then after that install the programs. It sounded too much to mess with, but oviously it works since you have it working. Are chess programs very slow or do they work ok?

Regards
Nick

Hi Nick.
I did some tests,approximate results for CM3000.

60 sec/move
1.h2-h4 e7-e5. 2.h4-h5...

DOSBOX 69300 cycles
Chessmaster 3000 DOS
DOS /// 2,060,544 position seen

Chessmaster 3000 v.1.0 for Windows
WIN 3.11 /// 1,744,200 pos
WIN 95 /// 1,646,400 pos

Virtual PC 2007 (AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 5200,2593 MHz)
WIN 98 /// 9,865,472 pos

Without emulator (AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 5200,2593 MHz)
WIN XP(sp3) /// 26,024,544 pos

I found several working images of English Windows 95 for DOSBOX.Sometimes after a crash it does not recover OS.
Need to test.

My Russian Windows 95 works very well.Only I installed on a virtual disk about 500 mb,and left about 200 MB of free space.
I'll send you link.I think knowledge of Russian is not necessary.
To edit the img disk I used the program UltraISO,can also be used Winimage.

" The buyer however reads and expects the program to get better and better through more and more games and it cannot do this! "

That's lame.
Strive for avoiding anything flat that emits light. Love the unhackable chess computer with real pieces and a tactile feel. I do not collect, I live.
