Game 19: Reversed Colors Game 9. Mind-boggling, absolutely mind-boggling. ExPro has a win, then a draw, then a 100% loss. RS has a 60 point eval lead at move 99 (StockFish) and manages to draw.

C23: Bishop’s Opening: Classical in book for 3 moves. I forced 2.Bc4 Bc5 to “look” like Game 9 and then turned them loose. ExPro probably has a win with 14. Nd5. Nope, Bb2? Then, ExPro salvages a draw with 60. Qd5. Nope, 60. Kf3?? At move 99 it is GAME OVER with ANY RS 2250 King push, but RS must save the Knight: 99. .. Na4??????????????? DRAW.

Game 20: Reversed Colors Game 10. ExPro calculates an endgame mess so appalling, I actually threw up in my mouth.

B17s: Caro-Kann: Steinitz in book through White move 10. RS2250 varies quickly from Game 10 with 11. Bxd4; the SF recommendation (Ex played 0-0-0)! RS did well, early on, leading by +1.3 at move 18. Cut to the chase: by move 46, the material was N+5P on both sides and a total draw. At this point I said: “Well, maybe RS draws or maybe RS loses...we’ll see”. 10 moves later...still a draw. But then RS 57. Kd4? (Kb4 kicks the Knight and wins the “a” pawn straight away). Then, 59.Ke4? Kxh4 60.Kf5? Nd4+ 61.Kg6? GAME OVER. White wins a pawn AND the Knight, but Black Queens first. That’s it. So far...the typical “ExPro handles the endgame better and flat out wins an even position”.
What happens next reminds me of some very bad ethnic food I recently had; however, the malodor of that disappointing experience was one order of magnitude less noxious than the Explorer Pro Max Strength “finish”. At 68. .. Qc1!, ExPro is perfect; White is dead and Black is awarded a -55 eval lead by StockFish. And then it happened. ExPro bowel movements of such proportion, that I had to do a double take, just before I passed out from the stench: 69. .. Qc4?????????????? and 71. .. Qa6+ ????????????? DRAW.
I checked to see if someone had switched the ExPro out for an Excalibur Grandmaster before proceeding, but there it was: an ExPro, in all its glory, and C4A6 was still in the display. By move 74, material was Q+2P on both sides. In good conscience, I cannot document any further, lest the poor reader get violent bowel cramping, when he finds out that NOW, RS2250XL manages to lose AGAIN.............correct, AGAIN.

Summary:
In a 20 game match between a default turn on 10 MHz Radio Shack RS 2250XL and a 16 MHz “max strength” Mephisto from Saitek Explorer Pro at one minute per move: it wasn’t even close: ExPro 14.5-5.5 (a match performance ELO of +168).
Editorial:
If somebody wants to run 30s/move evaluations: Go ahead: Chacun a son gout. For me, the PMS, piece movement speed (or move entry speed of 3 to 6 sec.) is such a large percentage of the actual 30s/move calculation time, it makes consistent repeatability of games virtually impossible. Even 1 min/move is not that great, but I already spend too much time on these evals. Longer games are prohibitive.
The ExPro “Max Strength” is simply faster and MUCH stronger than a 2250. It is also stronger than a Cougar, because of program enhancements. Additionally, Game 20 (and Game 19) has informed me, convincingly, that I need to move on to more serious matters.
Talk amongst yourselves.
