DB Nimzo Guernica messed up early in the opening phase of the game and got beaten fairly easily after that. In this position DB Nimzo Guernica played what normally would be a natural move with 12. ... Bb7 but in this position it was a mistake, with 12. ... Ba6! being best to stop MAC MacChess 2.5 from castling. After 12. ... Bb7? MAC MacChess 2.5 played 13. Nd4 followed by Nf5 which created a lot of problems when you add the threat of the pawn advance to e6 to it.

Although at first glance it seems that MAC Sargon 4 threatening to take the Rook on e8 has all the initiative. But MAC Sargon 4's King is also vulnerable to attack and the move 31. ... f4! actually gives Mephisto Atlanta a small advantage. Other moves worth looking at were 31. ... a5 and 31. ... Ne3. However in this complicated postion Mephisto Atlanta really messes up with the move 31. ... Bb7? and gets checkmated very quickly after the Bishop takes the Rook with 32. Bxe8.

CRITICAL POSITION
[fen]8/1k4R1/p2K4/1p6/3B1n2/2P3p1/3r4/8 w - - 0 62[/fen]
DB Gandalf 2.1 for most of this game was ahead but could never figure out how to win it. In this position DB Gandalf 2.1 was trapped and the best it could do was accept a draw by 3x repetition and DB Gandalf 2.1 was one move away from it had it played 62. ... Kc8 again. DB Gandalf 2.1 thought about it and then changed its mind and played 62. ... Kb8?? and lost. The problem with DB Gandalf 2.1 is that it is a slow searcher and even at a Pentium 90 setting only searches about 5/6 ply deep most of the time which is just not enough against most of the strong competition in this tournament. W3X Arasan 2.0 suffers from the same problem they both just search too slowly and require more speed.

W3X LChess 3.0 is weak and made this game too easy for Millennium Chess Genius Pro. The game is already lost in this position but best move would have been 26. Qe1 for W3X LChess 3.0. Playing 26. Ba6? just speeded up the inevitable attack and breakdown of W3X LChess 3.0's King's defense.
