mephisto genius 68030 manual in english

Post by culver10 »

hello,
I am trying to find a copy of the mephisto genius 68030 in english. I have a
copy in german but my german is weak. I will pay for the time and trouble
forsomeone to have their english manual copied. It is54 pages. I have other
mephisto manuals in english so I do not need that suggestion.
thank you,

I have the Genius 68030 Instruction manual. It is 47 pages in total excluding covers. If you have the English version of say the Porto Rose or Vancouver, the only difference is likely to be the Technical Detail on the last page e.g.
Microproceesor: 68030
Clock Speed: 33,333 MHz
Program Memory: 256 KByte ROM
Working memory: 768 Kbyte RAM
Permanent Memory : Stores about 1,000 self-programmed openning moves and about 50 games (even when unit is switched off)
.......................
......................
Power: Mains Adaptor:HGN 5004A
UK: HGN 5007A
US: HGN 5504A
AUS: HGN 5009A

Looking closely at the binding of the manual it would be very destructive/damaging to run this through a photocopier and I would not consider doing so.

If there is any specific information you need I would type that out for you but please do not ask me to type out the 47 pages!

Peter

68030 manual in english

Post by culver10 »

hello Mr Grayson,
My son is typing one page a day into a computer and translating it. It
is very slow work. Could you photograph it and send us the cartrige with
the photos? There must be some easy way to do this without damaging
the document. Whatever the cost is I can pay in advance. I have a German
scan which can not be translated directly. A scan of the document onto a
computer cartrige could be another way.
thank you,

OK Russell, I had not considered photographing them. I have a camera that takes good quality images so I'll give that a try to see if the "readable" size is manageable. Give me a day or so and I'll be in touch.

Peter is 100% correct when he suggests that the Vancouver manual is virtually identical to the Genius manual
i checked both manuals..they are identical in every respect except for the technical data on the last page and the name of the program of course
perhaps we can save Peter the ginormous task of making 45 or so photos for you

download the Vancouver Manual in English here and simply insert "Genius" where you see the word "Vancouver":

A bit too much to ask Regards

Thanks for that Steve. Saves me some work! I had done the first 17 pages but although readable, much of the text quality was being lost in the need to reduce frame size for Email transmission with 10Mb limit on Email sizes by the ISP I would only have got 3 to 4 pages at most per email.

I'll Email Russell in case he hasn't seen your post.

By the way, a very useful Website!

Peter

Hi,

The Vancouver 68030 link above for Alain’s Manuals no longer works, I went into his site today and the English link doesn’t work there either.

I have a copy in PDF format I could email to you, as stated earlier, it’s the same as the Genius apart from the Specs on the last page however these are provided in an earlier thread above.

Cheers,

Al.
