Fidelity Excel 68000

Post by Larry »

[fen]8/8/8/6K1/8/3N4/8/5Bk1[/fen]
Hi all, I'm wondering if the hash tables in my Excel 68000 are working.
I set up the above position on infinite search, let it go, fully expecting
the hash tables to find this simple enough mate in six. I gave up after
about 10 minutes.
By contrast, the Mephisto Master with *no hash* solves it in ~50secs.
I wonder if anyone here with an Excel68000 would be kind enough
to set up the position and give me the solving time. Remember the
time control is "infinite", not mate-in-six
thanks in advance...

Hi Larry
My Excel 68K (infinite level)finds the correct move 1.Ba6(or 1.Bh3 in your flipped board) in 42 seconds showing a score of 9.99
perhaps you are expecting it to announce the mate with a score "n5"?
if your excel performs the same way as mine then i think its OK
just a display anomaly while set to infinite level i guess

Hashing It Over Regards

I stand corrected...you are absolutely right. Re: setting up
positions, I can never seem to get it right. When you set up
the FEN, which corner do you start at?

to setup with White at bottom
make sure there is a W in the Fen string ..not a B
like so:

[fen]1kB5/8/4N3/8/1K6/8/8/8 w - - 0 1[/fen]

1kB5/8/4N3/8/1K6/8/8/8 w - - 0 1

Fenway Park Regards
