For the second game I disabled pondering in the Adv. Star to level the playing field...

In The Game
Savant II was out of book on move 3...ASC on move 5
ASC plays aimlessly in the opening making multiple Q moves
dropping tempo after tempo to the Savant II
with the WQ out of play the S2 launches a K side attack that overwhelms the ponderless ASC

ASC lights up its RESIGN led here

Amazingly weaker play for the ASC with pondering off

The Savant II takes on the newcomer...the Millennium ChessGenius Exclusive in a Rook Odds Match ...1 Min./Avg. TC
Colors Reversing
(Match Length Undetermined)

the MCGE looks like it will end up with an Elo at or near 2400
my estimate of the Savant ll's rating is at or near 1500
a 900+ pt deficit
lets see if a Rook can even things up...

REMOVE BLACK's QR

The MCGE has a nice VERIFY BOARD feature which shows an LCD chess board with the current position..however it wont remain on the display when you return to the game(with the Tasc and REV ll the LCD board can remain on the display during the game)

In The Game
MCGE quickly wins two P's but at the cost of trading off most of the pieces, leaving the S2 with the lone R which runs wild over the position

I guess R Odds is too much material for the S2
i got the idea of R odds from a match i participated in with GM Larry Kaufman
i operated the Novag Constellation 3.6 Mhz Vs Kaufman and he gave R odds
the difference in ELO between them was even less then 900 elo and the GM won!
http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopi ... stellation

anyway...i guess ill lower the odds to QN for the next couple of games
Down Sizing Regards

The last two games showed that a R is worth more then 900 elo(for these two computers)

lets see if a N can narrow the ELO gap...

REMOVE BLACK's QN

[fen]r1bqkbnr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq - 0 1[/fen]

MCGE follows the time tested fatal plan of trading down its pieces ..this time with no material gain but it does saddle the S2 with double P's on the B and D files
S2.. up the lone N.. wins a P and looks to have the right winning plan when it abrublty changes fronts marching its K to the Qside where it is useless
playing without a plan(in a won position) it settles for a 3 fold draw

REMOVE WHITE's QN

[fen]rnbqkbnr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/R1BQKBNR w KQkq - 0 1[/fen]

We finally get to see some of that 300 Mhz Vs. 6 Mhz advantage in action
MCGE comes out of the box swinging, winning back the minor piece (for two P's) in less then 10 moves
it soon wins back another P
both sides proceed to shuffle their R's back and forth and i was making preparations to adjudicate the game a draw ..when on move 43 the S2 sends its R off to outer space allowing Whites R to penetrate its back rank
S's game went straight downhill from there
