Some of you pals know more about Edchess that the paltry info you get on the Internet? I know about the name of the programmers, but very little more. I suppose work stopped, but I do not know either suspect if they got an even better engine than the one you can get these days on abandonware sites. The current one you can get has a pretty decent strength at leats running in actual gear. I became interested in this program for many reasons I will tell later....

I suppose sometimes the appeal of dedicated computers (in this case emulating/simulating one run on a desktop/laptop) can be more about playing strength that is not too overwhelming than about the physical pieces/board?Steve B wrote:Fernando wrote:these days I scarcely play in another way that old engines in d-fend

As for me,my main regret was losing interest in dedicated computers for a few years and selling the ones I had, exclusive rebel, munchen Amsterdam, munchen Roma,Mach 4,Berlin,Berlin Pro(ouch)saw one on the web for sale in the U.S for$1600,Novag Super Expert,Mondial Dallas, but I'm lucky enough to have a Revelation 11,an R30 and a genius pro and intend to add the exclusive genius soon, but I'll just hold fire to see if this Munchen genius pro comes out any time soon.

Oh, I got it. First impression: weaker than 2.03Fernando wrote:I would like to get that 3.0 version. Where can I get it?Volodymyr wrote:Hi,Fernando
I found only two versions of this program v.2.30 and v.3. Unfortunately very little information.
Did not play against this program yet.

Thank you, I already got it. Weak, I believe. Not a hint about how to develop pieces. Putting the queen in e7 in front of the bishop, etc. It is clearly an incomplete piece of programming.Volodymyr wrote:EdChess v.3.xxFernando wrote: I would like to get that 3.0 version. Where can I get it?

Well, not that weak, but looks like it has an opening book where really bad lines were inserted perhaps to give a chance to beginners.Fernando wrote:Thank you, I already got it. Weak, I believe. Once in the game with a decent opening, it plays a relatively strong game. It is prone to put traps and ambushes. My guess running in fast comps: 1800-1900 elo
