EAG Mobile Master Language Question...

Post by Steve B »

Hi All

The EAG Mobile Master and 2100 are the only two EAG's with the voice option

i have a French Speaking EAG Mobile Master
i was wondering if there was a way to change the language to English?
there is no option to do it..but perhaps changing something on the mother board..jumper switches or something similar?
the Voice Excellence had an external switch for changing the language

I'm shooting from the hip here, but I thought these machines had a language ROM, which is a push fit. If that's the case then hopefully someone can
copy you up one. I do seem to remember seeing a language ROM in
the back of a Fidelity voice machine.

if so...i imagine the 2100 language ROM could work in the MM
there are alot of English speaking 2100's out there so maybe someone could help
I would be willing to pay for a copy of the ROM

ROM Reward Regards

Hello Steve,

In CB-Emu_ROMs.zip, there is feag2100.zip which contains vcc-english.bin,vcc-german.bin,vcc-french.bin,vcc-spanish.bin.
With one of these files and a eprom programmer (or an nearby hacker), and if the IC is on a socket, it is easy to change the language.

"Trop éloigné" regards.

On a closer look, I've got the mainboard of a Septennial here in front
of me. It's got a ROM marked "language" on it, and it is a 24 leg
chip. Unfortunately it is soldered in place. I would be happy to unsolder
it and send it to you, but it would be in both our interest to have the
back taken off your MM and check that it 's ROM is also a dual in line
24 leg ROM. The Septennial might have a slightly different vocabulary
to the MM, that's the only problem as I see it. Maybe if you check and
compare what the MM opening spiel is and compare to the Septennial
opening spiel. With luck they will be the same.

Thanks Larry
but if i will need to solder it then i would rather just pass on it
my soldering skills are confined to absolute emergencies ...as in repairing a defective reed switch

i do appreciate your offer though
Best Regards
