IBM PC Chess Champion 2175

Image

Here is also Chess Simulator:

IBM PC Chess Simulator

Image

This one is not so easy to find:

Colecovision Fidelity Chess Challenger

Image

It is for the old Colecovision Game Console. Probably written by Spracklen based on Sargon 2. It has only 3 levels. L1 - 1-2 seconds. L2 - 15 seconds and L3 - 135 seconds. Look ahead is 2, 3 and 4 ply respectively.

Best regards

Chess 2175 I used to have in diskette, but I cannot find it and besides no driver to load it if I find it, so if you have it available you can smooth your conscience with the thought that I was a legal owner of that program some years ago...

legalistic regards

Picture of Colossus X for PC:

Image

Anyone remember this one from 2001:

Image

It works with Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT.

Does anyone know how and if it is possible to install it under Windows 10?

Thanks
Nick

I suppose you already tried compatibility mode from the install itself.

Yes, I couldn't get Windows 10 to respond with compatibility modes.

Do you have Colossus X?

Yes, I have. Is in many places, like abandonia. Not easy to start, but at last with D-fend and patience it's possible.

I installed mine. It works fine with D-Fend...but it has the protection page questions it asks before it starts.

OK. My problem with Colossus is the awful graphics.....I miss Colossus 4, that I did play in an old Atari. The program came embedded in a cassette.
It was capable of wining to challenger champion. I miss too, also for Atari, a program called Odesta. Impossible to find it now.

I have them both. Odesta software is from Larry Atkin.

Take a look here:

http://www.spacious-mind.com/html/commodore_c64.html

If you install WinVice for Commodore 64 then I can help you to play both programs. Odesta is Larry Atkin's Chess 7.0 and Chess 7.5

Both you could also get with Apple II and Atari 400/800.

Colossus 4.0 you can get with almost everything. Sinclair, Amstrad, MSX, Atari 400/800 and C64.

Colossus 2.0 you can get with C64 and Colossus 3.0 you can get only with Atari 400/800.
