HIARCS Chess Explorer v1.8 now available

Another free update for existing HIARCS Chess Explorer customers with the release today of v1.8.

You can read about the new features of v1.8 here:

You can use the Help->Check for updates menu option to find out more about the update and download the new version.

I hope you all enjoy the new features and refinements.

Many thanks for yet another free update! I certainly didn't expect so many when I bought HCE 1.0. It's a great piece of a software that has seen some substantial development since its first release. May it carry on growing!

I've installed the 1.8 version, but why its sounds is off?
Please tell me why it could happen...

Mark, could you please tell me when I find a download link for v1.8? If I click on "Check for updates" - HCE redirects me here - http://www.hiarcs.com/hce/pc-v170.htm.

If I use this link: http://www.hiarcs.com/hce/pc-v180.htm, it shows me that I have v1.8 installed, but I still have only v1.7.

Ditto the above accolades! Your many, free updates have far surpassed my expectations for v1.0. (And, the Disable Adjudication option in engine matches is a wonderful Christmas present!)

If you look on that page (or the equivalent Mac page), you'll find a link to the .exe installer.

(Excellent timing, I gotta say. I reported a networking crash in 1.7 just the day before! All fixed.)

Thanks for the feedback.

The sound issue affected PC users only and is resolved in the latest version.

There is an update to fix the few issues that have arisen. When you run HCE it will tell you if an update is required. If an update is available you will get a message from the server.

Yes, there seems to be a problem. hiarcs.com is sometimes not reachable here (Germany).

This problem should now be resolved.

Great timing, it seems to have started on Christmas eve although I only became aware of it on Christmas day, how lovely!

I use ver.1.8 on iMac.
