Mephisto Master Chess vs. Stockfish (Picochess MK802II)

Post by fourthirty »

I decided to pull the Mephisto Master Chess computer out of the closet yesterday. After it thrashed me on a couple of games, I was curious to see how it would perform against Stockfish running on a Rikomagic MK802II (via Picochess 0.17).

Mephisto Master set to Level A8 (30 seconds per move).
Picochess set to Level 20 (highest), Time Controls F6 (30 seconds per move), & Opening Book H3 (Varied - Default).

HIARCS 14 analysis shows the Master started to fall behind at 25.Nac5 (with a score of -2.65). It would have played 25.Nd4 (score of -2.29).

The Master was then going to lose a rook after Stockfish's next move, 25...Na2.

HIARCS didn't like the Master's eventual solution with the play of 27.Ra1 (-3.62). HIARCS recommended 27.h4 (-2.96).

The Master's largest blunder was 29.Qf3, bringing the score to -8.78, then further slipping to -11.13 with the play of 33.Kf1.

Stockfish running on picochess over Rikomagic MK802II probably has a rating over 2600 and masterchess does not even get to 2200.

Yes, I completely understand the ELO delta in this match, and the results were not surprising - which is the reason for only posting one game. However, I did take some pleasure in the battle (only because of the previous beatings I have taken from the Master). I was curious to see what sort of fight the Master would put up against an adversary 300 to 400 points stronger.
