Novag Constellation Forte - Is it A or B

Post by Celadus »

I tested my Forte on the two problems shown at the end of the above link. It finds both correct answers in about 5/6 secs.

This machine used to freeze and not reply when powered-up.
I heated the board surface with a hair dryer and this got the unit working
although it sill ooccasionally freezes so out comes the hair dryer.

Weird or what?

Try this test to differentiate between the Forte A or B
i am quoting directly from the Wiki page on the Forte...

Another difference in the depth calculation describes Göran Grottling module in the same issue:
Nach Eingabe von 1.h3 d5 2.h4 auf Analysestufe und die Zeit für das Erreichen von Suchtiefe 6 bzw. 7 notieren. Record after entering 1.h3 d5 2.h4 on stage and the analysis time for the achievement of search depth 6 and 7.

Forte A = 0:45 Min für Suchtiefe 6 Forte A = 0:45 min search for depth 6
Forte A = 4:33 Min für Suchtiefe 7 Forte A = 4:33 min search for depth 7

Forte B = 0:32 Min für Suchtiefe 6 Forte B = 0:32 min search for depth 6
Forte B = 1:32 Min für Suchtiefe 7 Forte B = 1:32 min search for depth 7

I tested my machine as per above and depth search times match those of the Forte B.

Thanks for the info Steve.
