Wonderful nostaglia. Thank you!
And I think we now have a worthy competitor to Bruce Pandolfini for the "Hair Volume of the Decade" award. _________________ Chess is like painting the Mona Lisa whilst walking through a minefield.
Hair today, gone tomorrow
I actually remember seeing this on my fathers black & white TV.
Not to sure about the number of the robots being sold in America quoted in the clip though?

Good question! Someone needs to play a 10 game match to give us a hint of whether one might be stronger. Personally I would be placing an each way bet - I haven't a clue. I know that I subjectively rated the newest Novag 4K programs at around 1325 - 1350 ELO. _________________ Chess is like painting the Mona Lisa whilst walking through a minefield.

a ten game match against the Adversary could never happen
i went through three Pristine Robots in one year
all three were good for about 1 hour of playing time before the Arm went haywire
however i think the 2Robot is much stronger then the Adversary
perhaps by 200 or so points
it would be no contest
There was an excellent nine page report by Rob Van Son in 'Selective Search' Number 142, June/July 2009 about a European Robotic Chess Mini Tournament with loads of photos and games.
1. Milton Bradley Phantom
2. Novag Adversary
3. Excalibur Phantom Force
4. Novag 2Robot
Eric might still have a few spare copies to purchase.

I heard that in the 70's when that Robot was released it used to poop ball bearings all over the studio.
Here is what I was trying to find the clip above was from the 70's a couple of years ago a comedian impersonating the character above calls the actor who was playing Chess in that clip. At the end the pooping of ballbearings is confirmed. I am sure Bryan will know what is going on here:
