Is Hiarcs 13 on the horizon? Since Fritz and Shredder have come out and Rybka is sort of on the horizon I figured Hiarcs 13 can't be too far off. |

That depends on the hardware. I haven't played a significant number of games yet, but on the iPhone/iPod Touch I am fairly sure Hiarcs 12.1 easily beats Stockfish 1.5.1 (which will be available in the very near future, as a free upgrade to iPhone Glaurung). |

H12 was in March and 12.1 in December 2008, wasn't it?
Time for a major update, isn't it? |

Hope so! I'd like to request that some more UCI parameters be included
with Hiarcs 13, especially regarding positional and material factors. At
present Rybka is useless for this, the other main engines have some but
with varying degrees of usefulness.

I had almost forgotten that there is an engine called "Junior"...
Anyway, 100 elo stronger sounds like a lot, but not with this long wait--it would have needed about 200 elo to be reasonably competitive nowadays. |

What is funny is in the small little G/5 matches I have been New Junior through he does well against Zappa Mexico II, Deep Sjeng WC2008, and really well against Stockfish 1.5.
Hiarcs 12.1 and Shredder 12 crushed the New Junior BUT in a lot of games that the new Junior loses he is blowing it in the endgame!!
Someone on the Rybka forum suggest testing New Junior with a much lower contempt. |

| I have HIARCS 13 in my Pocket Fritz 4. Not sure if it's any different, but they put the name of it there. |
