SHREDDER 11

MANY-TIME WORLD COMPUTER CHESS CHAMPION

No other program in the past years was able to win as many world championship
titles as Shredder. The new version, Shredder 11, is stronger than any previous
version, with its performance improved by about 100 Elo points. This was
achieved by implementing more effecient search techniques and a new evaluation
function which delivers more realistic assessments. Shredder still likes to go
on the attack, but is not as speculative as previous versions. The evaluation of
passed pawns has also been greatly improved. All of this leads to more reliable
and realistic results during your analysis with the computer. A completely new
feature is the "Opening Advisor", which allows Shredder to handle opening lines
much better without the help of an openings book.

Included in delivery: • Original Fritz 10 interface: extensive training and
entertainment features for beginners, club players and grandmasters • Shredder
11 also gives you full and free access to the ChessBase Playchess server (1
year), where you can play games against people all over the world. Naturally the
Shredder 11 engine runs under the Fritz interface • Tournament opening book: The
enhanced and extended Shredder opening book gives you full statistical
information about every move that has been played in the current position. In
addition you get a database with 1 million historic and current games.

Hi Peter,

I suspect they will release a Deep version later as usual. I think they hope that those who can not wait will buy both?!

Best Wishes,

Harvey

Hi fellows,

in Shredder announcement they write about an "Opening Advisor", which helps the engine to find opening moves better without a book?

What's this exactly all about? How shall this work exactly?
Thanks for any answers in advance.

Regards,
Sebastian

I'll buy DF11 from CB, but I'd rather get Deep Shredder 11 directly from SMK through the Shredderchess site. I like the flexibility/portability of UCI.

The question is should we buy for a chessprogram 100 Euro in the future ?

This would double the prize from the past. I didn´t think this is a healthy devolpment in computerchess.

Every new pc has two or more cores today. So a mp-version of a chesssoftware is the new standard, and a singlecoreversion of a chessprogram can be called a "lightversion".

I think the old 50,- Euro limit should be enough for a modern chessprogram, anything else is to expensive for a collector and a normal chessuser.

This are my two cent.

Hi,
As usual Deep Shredder is over priced  The only way for the price to be justified will be if it takes the number 1 spot

i also think that 50 euro is the limit. zappa came as MP and 64 bit
for 49 EURO as chessbase program.
than you got the zansibar update for free !
and now we even have zappa mexico as UCI in MP and 64 bit.

IMO other products should orientate on this.

IF a program costs 100 euro, than it must be the best.

or it should be something very special. e.g. i would buy mchess-uci for 100 euro because i like marty . or i would buy a new mephisto III a pc software for 100 euro.

or i would buy kittingers engine as UCI for 100 euro.
if it would be released ...

or i would buy a latest spracklen PC program as UCI for 100 euro,
for all those programs i would accept a special price because of their historical importance.

but these are exceptions.
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....
