Novag Super System Distributor

Post by Larry »

Hi to all,
I'm wondering if someone can help me here. I came across this
Novag Super System Distributor, new in it's box. The instructions are
a rough translation from Chinese to English, and then very vague. Hooking
up the system to the Super Forte 'C' is no problem. But then it says you
have to come up with your own interface.
The idea is to play a game on your comp by having the board position
shown as an image on either your TV screen or your monitor, or, if you've
got one, a DGT (I think) chess board.
I'm trying to get mine to work on the PC monitor, but with no luck getting
an interface to run it on. The Super System Distributor itself dates back to
~1990 or so, so I doubt it would work on any of today's Window versions,
only in a DOS window.
This is a longshot, but does anyone here have a suggestion as to where
I could look to find an interface suitable for this thing?

Thanks for any replies
all the best
Larry
It is supposed to work with a SF 'C', or a Super VIP, or a Super Nova
or a Super Expert 'C'. They say anything with the 'Super' up front,
except a Super Connie.

IMO there was a software available at this time the machine was sold.
did you try if the usual windows terminal software is doing it too?

Hi,

from my own tests : only the Super VIP requires the Super System Distributor to be connected to a PC.
Star Diamond, Diamond, Super Expert, Forte, Super Nova, Sapphire, Sapphire II, Citrine can be connected directly ; I haven't tested yet the Super Constellation and Super Forte which I got recently.

Now for the software, I have written a kind of UCI Engine for Star Diamond but never really took the time to finish and publish it but stay tuned because I am working on this "problem" (especially now that I have a cable for my Elite Avant Garde :D )

best regards,
Alain
