Shredder was set to play with it's normal book (not tournament as I need to practice a wider variety of openings) at maximum strength on my AMDFX60 with 512mb hash. Time control was 40/2 hrs.
I'm posting this everywhere I can as it's my first draw against any of the super gm programs and I'm beside myself with disbelief!
My draw with Shredder 10.1

Nice Work!
Nice work Paul!
What is your rating?
It does surprise me sometimes how quickly a machine will settle for a draw with a repeated position. I suppose the disadvantage the machine has in that it knows nothing of the quality of the opposition. I've no doubt your average human adversary with a similar GM rating would battle on for the win.....nevertheless well done and 1 up for the human race.
I've found that some of my more successful games versus computer oppositon have either come by playing a very attacking game against the king....or by attempting to exchange off pieces hoping for a draw.
This is one of my better games, not quite the opposition you faced.

Love wooden chess computers......you PC guys have no idea!!!
Thanks Steve!
I actually don't have a rating as I've never been able to be a regular at a club - work pressures invariably meant that I was at best unreliable I would hazzard a guess at about 2000elo on a good day I suppose?! I've really no idea??
I think Shredder assumed that I would play something like d5, but I saw a chance of a swindle and went for it after it had played Qh6 once I was fairly certain the repetition was in the bag, I was practically praying at the point the third repetition was about to be played - I was worried that SMK had some additional code to avoid the draw
Of course a human GM would have wiped me from the board I've no doubt
I tend to get creamed if I play very attacking chess, Hiarcs in particular tends to obliterate me The only way I've found to last is as you say to swop off as quickly as I can while trying to preserve my pawn structure for the endgame.
Yours is a nice game, have to say I am absolutely rubbish at Blitz hence I played at 40/2hrs, my brain just isn't quick enough any more
