As a communication backup it is recommended that you use Google Hangouts which will allow you to communicate instantly with your opponent in an emergency. See here communication example:
As this tournament is being played live with 5 rounds over 2 days, we need to ensure that the games are completed on schedule and with minimum technical issues.
You can read more about Google Hangouts here:
http://hiarcs.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7455
If both opponents have an alternative backup method that allows for effective emergency communication, then that that is acceptable as well.
Game Rules
We will try to keep the rules easy.
1) Time: The event is being played at an average time of 30 seconds per move. Your computers average time setting of 30 seconds or the average time setting of 60/30 (60 moves in 30 minutes) are acceptable. 30 seconds fixed time is also allowed. All other level settings are not permitted.
2) Losses on Time: Losses on time do not apply to this tournament. Please ensure that you have adequate time set up on the Playchess servers to avoid the server adjudicating a loss to a player. Should this happen, the contestants must continue with their game until one computer wins or a draw is agreed.
3) Adjudication: Both players may agree to either resign or accept a draw on behalf of the computer if such situation arises. Common sense, good judgment and fair play applies to this rule.
4) Starting the game: White player starts the game by pressing the computers "Enter", "Play" or "Move" key. No manual choices carried out by a human are allowed.
5) Opening Book: Only the computer's built-in opening book can be used. Computers that have multiple opening books built in, the operator may choose a book from the computer's book settings. Manually pre-programmed openings are not allowed.
6) No Additional Rules: For everything else that might occur, common sense and fair play applies.
Anyone still interested in entering the Tournament is welcome. Cut-off date for final entries will be Midnight on Saturday, October 31st.
Playchess Clocks
Remember to set your game clocks in Playchess to TIME: 120 and GAIN PER MOVE: 30 As seen in the example below.

I have played several Fidelity EAG computers in various events over the years and they never performed well for me in 30 sec./Avg Games
Of course winning the event is totally meaningless and the only thing that matters is the comradery and friendship of the players
Holding Hands And Singing Kumbaya Regards
Steve
P.S.still sweet to win it all though..

Now a pawn ahead against Oswaldo, but bishops of different colours, so nothing decided yet...

EAG V7, Fidelity, (Oswaldo) - Chess Genius, Millennium, (Paul) 0 - 1
(Round 1)
Hi all,
Oswaldo and I played from about 22:15 (my time) the first round game, as I was not able to play it the saturday afternoon.
The ChessGenius won a pawn in the early middlegame, and after trading queens there was an endgame with rooks, and bishops of different colour, which made it hard for the ChessGenius to find a winning plan.
There was a lot of manouvering, and I have to analyse what it was all about, or just the ChessGenius not knowing how to win the game. Finally it managed to trade bishops, and then the win came quickly, allthough it could have won easier, for instance a human player would have played 78. ..Rxg5, with an easy pawn endgame win.
Anyway, here is the game:
