The second geame was a king´s indian defense where Rev II Hiarcs 14.1 came out of book at the move 15 and Mysticum Houdini 1.5a at move 17. The position was balanced after move 17..Rac8 scoring +0.28

[fen]2r2rk1/p3ppbp/1p4p1/2nP4/4P3/B3QN2/P4PPP/1RR3K1 w - - 0 1[/fen]

seven moves latter Rev II won a pawn and after 24. exd5 the position was

[fen]5rk1/p4pbp/6p1/3P4/8/8/P4PPP/2R3K1 w - - 0 1[/fen]

the promising d pawn was probably not so because Mysticum score for this position was 0.33 and seeing 21 plys ahead in brute force and 40 in selective maybe was already seeing a draw and for sure Rev II the same. At move 43.Re4 the score for Rev II was .23

[fen]8/8/3k1p1p/p2P3p/P3RKP1/5P2/8/4r3 w - - 0 1[/fen]

and after 11 more moves we agree a draw

position after 54.Kxf5

[fen]8/8/7p/p1k2K2/P7/5P2/8/8 w - - 0 1[/fen]

corrected position after 24.exd5

[fen]5rk1/p4pbp/6p1/3P4/8/5N2/P4PPP/2R3K1 w - - 0 24[/fen]

Rev ll seemed to win a p right out of the opening
as soon as it left book it was showing an Eval of between +.9 and +1.1
but as the game played out the extra P did not carry the day
interestingly it was a sort of repeat of the first game where Mysticum was a P up for most of the game and the point was split
all in all a solidly played game for both computers

For game Three ..Rev ll Hiarcs will be brandishing the Royal Pieces

1-1 Regards
Steve

What search depths was the Rev II hitting Steve? I suspect it's not as deep as the Mysticum?

What opening books/settings are in use for each machine?

Both machines played well but I did like the human positional play of Hiarcs personally.

Hope to make it for game 3.

Glad you enjoyed watching the game Paul
the Brute Force searches were about the same 19-20 Ish
the Selective search depths were not as large..around low 30ish
i use the Hiarcs Tournament book
Hiarcs is set for Active playing Style

i was curious to see exactly how deep the Rev II searches in this position from a fresh start ..with no benefit of pondering blacks move as would have been the case in the actual game

from the position it is black to move
Mysticum played 43..Rd1

After exactly 60 seconds Rev II hit 20/38
after exactly 90 seconds Rev II hit 21/42

Just Sayin Regards

Steve,

Does Hiarcs on the Rev have position learning? If it does you should probably switch it off when doing a test like this. Don't forget to switch it back on afterwards!

Say NO to Learning regards,
Harvey
