A slightly more sensible reply from the SD this time.....and at last another piece leaves the starting blocks!

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 O-O 8.c3 d5 9.exd5
Nxd5 10.Nxe5 Nxe5 11.Rxe5 c6 12.d4 Bd6 13.Re2 Qh4 14.g3 Qh3 15.Nd2 Bf5 16.Ne4 Be7
17.f3 Bg6 18.Nf2 Qd7 19.Nd3 Bd6 20.Ne5 Bxe5 21.dxe5 Rad8 22.Qd4 *

[fen]3r1rk1/3q1ppp/p1p3b1/1p1nP3/3Q4/1BP2PP1/PP2R2P/R1B3K1 w - - 2 22 [/fen]

Have to agree with Steve that I'm starting to feel more at home with the white position the more I look and analyse but perversely as it looks better to me the score drops on the SD, now at +1.38.

Depth was reported as 10ply this time slightly lower then the last few moves where 11ply was hit. There is no split on the selective depths on the SD nor sadly any nps info.

Dazed and confused regards

22.Qd4 Qe7

This is looking like a gradual squeeze on the black position. Oh what
a difference a pawn can make...

Still a long way to go yet Larry.........the SD's next move is the somewhat bizzarre Qf2?! obviously planning on exploring the skewer after Be3........Bc5. I think that Qg4 would have been the more aggressive option for the SD, Qf2 gives the BLP a bit of time to regroup again.

I'd expect the BLP to play c5 next.....

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 O-O 8.c3 d5 9.exd5
Nxd5 10.Nxe5 Nxe5 11.Rxe5 c6 12.d4 Bd6 13.Re2 Qh4 14.g3 Qh3 15.Nd2 Bf5 16.Ne4 Be7
17.f3 Bg6 18.Nf2 Qd7 19.Nd3 Bd6 20.Ne5 Bxe5 21.dxe5 Rad8 22.Qd4 Qe7 23.Qf2 *

[fen]3r1rk1/4qppp/p1p3b1/1p1nP3/8/1BP2PP1/PP2RQ1P/R1B3K1 w - - 4 23 [/fen]

Score is dropping still, and now sits at +1.19 which is probably the most realistic it's been in the game so far.

How does the ResII score the current position Steve?

In for the long haul regards

after the admittedly fuzzy (at Best)..23.Qf2 ..Res II's score is also dropping for white..currently standing at +.42(50 minutes..16 ply)
ResII is also predicting c5 as Blacks next move

Fuzzy Logic Regards

Hi all,

22.Qd4 Qe7
23.Qf2 c5 (as expected)

score -1.09 for black depth 8/20
regards
Larry
PS I'd have had this move last night, but we had an electrical storm here.
I was downstairs and my computer went off and on again, so did the lights
in the house. I rushed upstairs to where London Pro was thinking. Sure
enough, it had restarted it's analysis. I was a bit worried, and shut it down.
London Pro's are not cheap, and hard to come by at any price.

Scary stuff with the electrical storm

The SD's reply is as I expected,

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 O-O 8.c3 d5 9.exd5

[fen]3r1rk1/4qppp/p5b1/1ppnP3/8/1BP1BPP1/PP2RQ1P/R5K1 w - - 1 24 [/fen]

Score has dropped again to +1.11 with the expectation that the BLP will swap the knight for the bishop........

Armies reducing regards

Hi all,
Yep,
24. Be3 Nxe3
score -0.63 for white, depth 8/20

BLP went straight to this move and didn't waver from it. It
denies white the two bishops and holds a rook on the open
file.
When I first started out in chess I remember reading that as
a guide you should aim to keep at least one of your center
pawns. This opening violates that in the hope of a middle game
knockout punch, which in this case didn't happen.
On the subject of the electrical storm, I noted the rareness
of the Berlin Pro London. I see this morning a Berlin Pro (non
London) went on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 3DWatching
Get a load of the price. This one had no dust cover and a
non original adaptor.
look after your computers regards

over $1100 USD!

not so fast though
i notice the winning bidder is a brand new Ebayer with NO completed transactions and he jumps right in off the bat and spends mega bucks on his first auction?

I Dont Think So Regards
Steve
ps..when we do see this auction resurface for lack of payment ..it might a be a good idea to pick this little baby up at the same time:

Hi All,

The SD's reply is fairly predictable

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 O-O 8.c3 d5 9.exd5
Nxd5 10.Nxe5 Nxe5 11.Rxe5 c6 12.d4 Bd6 13.Re2 Qh4 14.g3 Qh3 15.Nd2 Bf5 16.Ne4 Be7
17.f3 Bg6 18.Nf2 Qd7 19.Nd3 Bd6 20.Ne5 Bxe5 21.dxe5 Rad8 22.Qd4 Qe7 23.Qf2 c5 24.Be3
Nxe3 25.Rxe3 *

[fen]3r1rk1/4qppp/p5b1/1pp1P3/8/1BP1RPP1/PP3Q1P/R5K1 w - - 0 25 [/fen]

The score has now dropped to a paltry +0.73  at this rate in three moves the SD will be losing

At the moment I can see this game going for a long drawn out draw, I'm not sure the kingside pawn majority will be enough against the BLP and it's faster stronger program and larger hash tables which should become more critical as the game continues and the pieces dwindle.

Running out of steam regards

quite possible Paul

i guess now is as good a time as any to point out that neither you or Larry will be allowed to make or accept draw offers
all games MUST be played to a final conclusion no matter how many weeks and months..perhaps even years.. it takes

50 Move Rule Regards

I've been thinking that for some moves now. Both sides have healthy
pawn formations, white has an extra pawn on the king side, but all the
major pieces are on the board. I agree the game should not be declared
a GM draw, but played until the draw is rather obvious.
Are computers gradually becoming more human, or are humans
gradually becoming more computer?

Good Morning Gentlemen,

The SD reply is......

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 O-O 8.c3 d5 9.exd5
Nxd5 10.Nxe5 Nxe5 11.Rxe5 c6 12.d4 Bd6 13.Re2 Qh4 14.g3 Qh3 15.Nd2 Bf5 16.Ne4 Be7
17.f3 Bg6 18.Nf2 Qd7 19.Nd3 Bd6 20.Ne5 Bxe5 21.dxe5 Rad8 22.Qd4 Qe7 23.Qf2 c5 24.Be3
Nxe3 25.Rxe3 c4 26.Bc2 *

[fen]3r1rk1/4qppp/p5b1/1p2P3/2p5/2P1RPP1/PPB2Q1P/R5K1 w - - 1 26 [/fen]

Finally offering to trade the light squared bishop which has been pretty useless up until now. The score is up slightly to +0.76.

Don't worry I won't be going for a GM draw  It was just an observation on how I think the game will go. If the SD had kept it's queenside majority then I think it might have been different but we'll play on for a quite a few moves yet!

If ......Bxc2 then Qxc2

Bishops be gone regards
