Chessmaster outplays Rebel 12 in a tough Sicilian Rossollimo, and takes the match 4.5-1.5. Chessmaster thus advances to the Semi-Finals.

At last the semi-finals have arrived. Four chess AI's have survived this far, fighting for the honor of facing Stockfish for the Championship. The Semi-finals will be Best of Ten games. The pairings are:

#1 Arasan vs. #4 Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition

#2 Defenchess 2.2 vs. #3 DGT Centaur


Who will win? What will the scores be?

Not sure about the scores, but I'll go with Chessmaster and Defenchess :)

The first match of the Semi-Finals pits top seed Arasan 23.3 against the fourth-seeded Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition. Best of ten games.

Game one saw the mighty Arasan sack a Knight to obtain a mass of passed pawns that would pay huge dividends 20 moves later. Chessmaster resigned after Black's 48th move. Arasan leads the match 1-0.

Chessmaster tries the Slav Defense in Game Two, and the game gets into some complicated tactics that sees Arasan emerge a piece up. Arasan puts the game away with fantastic precision, and now leads the match 2-0.

Arasan takes a commanding 3-0 lead with an incredible attacking game with the Semi-Slav, including a beautiful Rook sac clearing sacrifice 26...Rxe3, a move that would make Fischer proud.

Arasan outmaneuvers Chessmaster in a complex Queen's Gambit Accepted to take a 4-0 lead in the match. Chessmaster resigned after White's 67th move, as it sees the Mate in 11.

Arasan continues the steamroller with this win to move to a perfect 5-0 in this match, one win or draw away from making the Finals. Arasan got underneath Chessmaster's position and flushed its King out into the open.

Arasan completes the sweep by crushing open Chessmaster's King position, then marching a passed pawn to victory. Arasan advances to the final with a 6-0 shellacking of Chessmaster and has not lost or drawn a game yet in these Candidates' matches.

Just now saw your very interesting tournament!
About the dedicated chess computers: it would have taken you just one look at the wiki-elo-liste to see that the Tasc R40 is clearly the strongest of them. (EDIT: apart from the King Performance and the Centaur of course).
For the rest I am curious how the Centaur will do in semi and possibly full final.

The second SEMI-FINAL match gets underway as the powerful DGT Centaur faces the Karpov-like Defenchess 2.2. Best of Ten games.

Game One sees Defenchess getting the better of DGT Centaur in a tough English opening. Defenchess gets a passed pawn and uses it to tie up the Centaur's Rook in the endgame to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Game Two sees an exciting London opening with opposite side Castling, and it's a race to see which attack will strike home first. Defenchess uses its pieces wonderfully in an unbalanced endgame to get the win and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

DGT Centaur plays its best game yet, hanging with Defenchess with an equal position as late as move 36, but Defenchess again flexes its endgame muscles and maneuvers its way to yet another win, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the match.

DGT Centaur enters the endgame roughly equal, but again Defenchess shows why it is a master of endgame play. Defenchess now leads the match 4-0.
