Upgraded to 1.5, now can't force computer to move

After upgrading from HIARCS Chess Explorer 1.2 for Mac (OS X 10.8.4) to 1.5, now when I press Play > Move Now (or use a keyboard shortcut or click the hourglass icon), nothing happens--the computer doesn't move. I tried restarting but still get the same results.

Should I have upgraded to 1.3 or 1.4 first?

I'm seeing this behaviour too. Pressing "Move Now" makes the engine stop thinking immediately, but does not force it to play a move. The engine's clock keeps running.
