HIARCS Chess Explorer v1.4 is now available

Post by Mark Uniacke »

As usual this is a free update for existing customers.

You can read about the new features of v1.4 here:
http://hiarcs.com/chess-explorer.htm

All customers have been emailed about the new version.

You can also use the Help->Check for updates menu option to find out more about it and download the new version.

I hope you all enjoy the new features.
Best wishes,
Mark

Great update! Also resubscribed to the tournament book for access in HCE.

The product keeps getting better and easier to work with! Can't wait for searches by material and the ability to only see the engine score when in infinite analysis mode.

Very easy trouble free install on my MacBook, also it may just be my imagination but it seems the databases are loading faster than before - something I hadn't expected as they were fast already!

Hi Mark,

The release notes mention that the 1.4 update offers "subtle weaker play on the low set elo levels". What does that entail exactly?

Thanks,

Horatio

Some of the very low Elo levels < 1400 were adjusted to play slightly weaker. This is part of an on going process to try to calibrate the Elo levels.
Best wishes,
Mark

Is there a place where I can find pgn files for live games like the Candidates address above? I'd like to be able to test this feature out – if I'm understanding it correctly, we can watch games in progress in Hiarcs? – but I have no idea where to find the files or addresses.

Thanks.

EDIT: sorry - not "above." I was meaning to post this in a different thread. But maybe it'll be answered here just as easily.

There are live PGN links on The Week in Chess website.
