Ok. Where it says "Rating:" adjust the player's level of play... but it's in spanish.
Best regards!

Re: Hiarcs 15.3
The Match player strength option in the Play dialog has not been removed, it is still present and available to use.
I assume you are using the Spanish language version and hence the slightly different phrasing.

It hasn't been removed, I know. What I'm saying is that with the update, the program now plays harder than before, it's as if the Elo calibration has been affected.
I hope I have explained myself well now. Sorry for my bad english, i use translator.
Re: Hiarcs 15.3
I haven't noticed the Hiarcs chess engine playing stronger at lower difficulty levels. What ELO rating is it set to, and what time control?Fran66 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 7:15 pmHi,Mark Uniacke wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 5:46 pm The Match player strength option in the Play dialog has not been removed, it is still present and available to use.

Re: Hiarcs 15.3
What I mean is that before I leveled up much more fast. For example, at 1600-1800 Elo I was winning easily and now it costs me much more.
Re: Hiarcs 15.3
I think the rating was calibrated in 15.2. I was expecting the range around 1600-1800 should be easier. Maybe it's back to where it was before, with 15.3. I haven't got a chance to test myself, I'm only playing sparring games from position at the moment.
Re: Hiarcs 15.3
I have played with Deep Hiarcs 15.2 and the difficulty has also increased. It seems that the Chess Explorer update is responsible for the increase in difficulty.
Re: Hiarcs 15.3
My question is: how can I reinstall the previous version of Chess Explorer?
Best regards!

Re: Hiarcs 15.3
Are you saying it selects a higher rating for the engine than shown in the game header?
You can check this with InBetween if you want.
Re: Hiarcs 15.3
I did check, and at least here it set the correct Elo
0.625: > setoption name UCI_LimitStrength value true
0.625: > setoption name UCI_Elo value 1600
I have the single threaded version of the engine.
Re: Hiarcs 15.3
Anyhow, what does it matter, the Elo is just a number. Set it to what you want to get a nice game.
There is one difference in the new engine. It play with the full book length. You can adjust it in the property for the engine,

Re: Hiarcs 15.3
H15.2 is unchanged and there is no change in HCE Pro that I am aware of that could affect H15.2 play.
The Elos are calibrated and while their can be slight differences as the engine evolves it should not significantly affect chess strength. It maybe it is playing more book moves which could help it and you can change that by setting Limit Book Knowledge to true in the engine settings.
If you do not like H15.3 play you can switch to H15.2 which is unchanged.

I haven't touched anything in the book, I always leave it as it is by default. Is there any way to install the previous version of Chess Explorer?
