I guess it is a matter of how you work and annotate. With HIARCS, I always end up creating a complex variation tree when I just need one variation out of that tree. Now there is a good chance of deleting the variation I wanted out of that complex tree. Anyway, this is what I would wish for and a reason why I use the Analysis Board on ChessBase GUI's and the Sandbox in Aquarium. I don't know if you have tried the ChessBase analysis board to experience how useful it can be. If not, I strongly recommend that you try it.

I frequently observe ChessBase users and I've never seen them to use this mode. Is there any video demonstrating the use of it?
