The game of Mephisto Lyon 68000 - Mephisto Almeria 68000 might have become a draw if Almeria had kept its rook ... but exchanging the rooks was the final plunder ... see yourself

Hi Al,

so I understand that you can play on Monday 26th? Which hour do you prefer? Can we contact via Whatsapp or Hangouts or Threema?

Have a nice time until Monday (isn't it somewhat Sahara temperatures?)

Yeah, mine has been showing that for almost 2 weeks, hopefully it’s been despatched and the site hasn’t been updated.

The final games of the tournament are over. Lyon 68000 had no mercy with London 68000, in both games playing like a champion.

In the first game Lyon won a pawn and played at its best level, leaving no chance to London.

In the second game London played a king's gambit 1.e4 e5 2.f4. Lyon lost a knight, but London had to give 3 pawns for it, leaving 7 pawns on Lyon's side. I had some bad anticipation as I experienced Atlanta several times in such a constallation losing the match, but Lyon successfully paralysed London's knight, moving its pawns forward slowly step by step, thus making London's rooks and knight more and more ineffective. No way out for poor London.... I really felt some pain for poor London (and Al).

So if I computed correctly, Lyon was to be the champion of the tourament if it had only achieved a drawn from 2 matches, and winning both games might have made it a clear, but unexpected champion. I like the active way of Lyon's play, but when I decided to take part in the tournament, there was no other one left..... congrats to Lyon.

Hi Michael,

I enjoyed it, although the London does seem underpowered on the 68000.

Thanks for organising the tournament ...

yeah, was surprising - but remember the London result of the High Performer Tournament on the 68030....
