Hello Guys,

Johan programs are always good in mate search ,because they calculate deeper in giving checks
If i am right this is a sort of special search add to the program

I am no programmer so i can not say how they call this ,but i know that this inside the program

Kr,Hans

Thanks Hans, I'm no programmer either and I didn't know about this check feature in the programming,I wasn't at all surprised at the R30 's rapid solution as I've seen it solve checkmate problems rapidly so many times before, for an old man it's still not too shabby. Regards Steve C.

Yes, this algorithm was inspired by a classical game, I think of Lasker. That also ended in a mate by giving only a lot of succesive checks. So some programmers implemented this in their program.

Hi All,

Round 2 Game 6 Paul's Millennium Chess Genius Pro v My Rev2 London

The MCG Pro got a slight advantage from the opening but the game swung after 2 bad moves in a row with Whites 35th & 36th moves, where the eval changed from 0.9 to -3.5 and then -5.1 after the 2 moves.

Position after Blacks 34th move Ba3 (from e7):

[fen]5rk1/3b1rp1/2p4p/3p1q2/3Bp3/bPQ3P1/P1R2PBP/2R3K1 w - - 5 35[/fen]

Here White played 35. Ra1? ...... Black c5
Then White played 36. b4?

Cheers,

Al.

Hi,

yesterday evening Helge and me we played

game 6-2 Reflection Vancouver-ELO2400 - Montreux-ELO2259 with the result of 1:0

This game should have ended with a draw but Montreux didn't want to...

Move 53...g4 was the magic move which prevented the draw:

[fen]8/8/3Pk3/1KB5/6p1/P1P5/8/3b4 w - - 0 54[/fen]

Much better had been 53...Kd7:

[fen]8/3k4/3P4/1KB3p1/8/P1P5/8/3b4 w - - 3 54[/fen]
