The wierd thing though is that Saitek in later years were very careful and realistic with their ratings. For example, the Miami box had the rating at 1900 which was quite fair as that was only a few points above the SSDF rating at the time.

I think that Novag, on the other hand, at first manged to inflate their ratings by quoting the rapid play figures, and then went overboard again when no rating tests were done.

The claimed Novag ratings on their boxes are simply rediculous beyond belief, whereas if the USCF simply quoted the figures on the boxes of the Saitek units, they would at least be somewhere within the ballpark - certainly not 400 - 500 points awry like with some Novags.

Citrine from Novag it is wrote on its box "2330 estimated USCF". The elo from this machine is somewhere between the fidelity mach III ( USCF ELO 2265) and fidelity mach IV (USCF ELO 2325). This is because in a 10 game match citrine will win fidelity match III but will lose against fidelity match IV. So this estimated elo is more or less ok. But other machines from Novag probably they were not tested with enough games.
