Atlanta on German ebay

I think 599euro for an Atlanta minus the original box is a tad too
expensive.
I took the plunge and bought the other comp up for sale by the same
seller. It's a Berlin Pro London. Yes, I've already got one, but would like
a back-up. I hummed and harred for about an hour before hitting to
buy-it-now button. It probably would'nt be there in the morning, and I
can get at least most of my money back in the years ahead if I decide to
sell it. It cost me 649euro minus the box and plus shipping.

PS Steve ( or anyone?) Who is German ebay seller "68020"? I'm sure
I've seen that name around before.

yes you are right, there is no box. For a collector not really interesting.
But my Atlanta has one great reason for buying - it is like new! No Uses, no scrachtes. It looks like never used...
Sadly you must think that i have to pay approx. 60 Euro for ebay and round about 25 Euro for paypal-fees. And the rest is a normal price for a Atlanta.
Expensive E-Beach Regards

The auction has 13 hours to go, as I write...still no interest. It puzzles me
how people will shy away from a (fairly rare) auction item if they think it is
overpriced even by a small amount. If I did'nt already own an Atlanta I
would have snapped this one up, rather than wait six months for the next
one to come along.
On blitz time controls, the Atlanta is the strongest pressure sensory
chess computer ever made.

My take Larry: When it comes to buying as a collector or even if one happens to just want a given unit for any reason, then determining whether a given price is 'reasonable' is complicated. In the end, if one really wants it and is comfortable with the financial outlay then the value is largely in the eye of the beholder.Larry wrote:The auction has 13 hours to go, as I write...still no interest. However, when it comes to buying a unit for the primary purpose of playing it then the decision IMO becomes more pragmatic. I agree that the 64 LEDs and Hash tables are an important advantage over the Saitek Master Chess and it would be worth my while paying a little more for them. But only to a point since the ELO difference is only a little over 100 ELO and I think the benefit that I would get, given my skill level, from the Hash table advantage would be limited.
When it comes to this unit, I can't get around the fact that I just paid comparable to 152 Euros for a brand new Master Chess, including shipping. This Atlanta with shipping would end up circa 630 Euros with shipping- almost 500 Euros more. Otherwise, the Master Chess and Atlanta look almost exactly the same (only difference being the 64 LEDs vs 16 LEDs) and have exactly the same manual & options with one exception: the Master Chess has 4 ponder modes vs. Atlanta's 2 (which Saitek calls Power-Saving Modes in the Master Chess manual).
But in the end,
The Rules Of This Game Remain Somewhat Obscure,
