Hello!
The main idea of planned competition is to decrease a hardware disadvantage between electronic players; so if I will set 30min/game for Milano and TurboKing, which time setting will be most fair for GK2100 and Zircon II - want your suggestions, thanks in advance!

Re: Handicap tournament
i haven't computed the time differentials for the different computers but these sorts of handicap matches present a problemIvenGO wrote:Hello!

if you give one computer more time then the other then the computer with the stronger hardware will still be pondering while the other computer is taking more time..in effect reducing the handicap
i think pondering needs to be OFF on both computers for a handicap match to make any sense
Handicapping Regards

but for Scysis computers its not possible to switch ponder = OFF if Im right... and pondering itself can give some advantage only when it hits the mark (predicted opponent's move)... btw is this article about differences of DCC's processors perfomance correct: http://www.tradechess.com.br/artigos.htm ?

i really cant opine on the accuracy of it,however GM Kaufman is an active poster on the Computer Chess Club Forum so you can ask him directly
in fact.. talking about handicap matches
a couple of years ago i ran an odds match against him when i was a moderator on the CCC forum
he had white and played without his QR against my Novag
Constellation 3.6Mhz
each player was to spend only 3 minutes on any move
one move had to be posted each day
he won
